Hotel room angst

We drove back home yesterday after getting my stepmom moved. She’s now in a gated retirement community with good security so we have peace of mind. There wasn’t much time for fun or any shows but we can do that next time. We did have a great dinner buffet at the “M” which is a new hotel/casino as well as a really bad meal at the Mandalay Bay coffee shop – ย don’t go there. The only gambling I did was the five minutes it took for me to lose at roulette and blackjack.

It’s so good to sleep in my own bed. Why are hotel beds so uncomfortable? Who knows what kind of abuse they take… Maybe there was a large man convention there last week and the Incredible Hulk and Andre the Giant were having pillow fights on that bed. Who can sleep anyway when you’re up all night looking for bed bugs? I have to stop watching those shows about horrible things in hotel rooms. This time I brought some disinfectant wipes and cleaned the doorknobs, phone, remote control (the worst!), and I found a hair in my bathtub! It was not mine. Next time I’d like to bring one of those UV lights and a pair of goggles to look for blood stains on the wall! I should just stay home!

Jenny- Hello! Long time, no talk! I hope all is well. Since, I am a CSI Forensic guy, I did take a “blacklight” (Actually, crimescope light source) to a Hotel and although the room was “clean”….the amount of body fluids, that was detected on the bed, wall, sheets and all over the bathroom was gross! I showed the Manager and she was just as upset! Body fluids: seman, blood and urine! Yuk! Using the Scope, I could tell what fluid it was!
Now, some major named hotels, use a blacklight to check the bathroom, walls and other areas and it anything “glows” they bleach it!

Daniel! It took me a minute to realize this is you, Officer Daniel, and you really are CSI. Thanks for letting us know there is hope in some hotels, but I’m still bringing my own sheets!

I don’t take my own sheets or sleeping bag but I NEVER lay or sit on the bedspread because I KNOW someone made whoopie on it. They don’t wash the bedspreads!! EEwww

I remember years ago Dateline or maybe 20/20 did a segment on Hotels and ever since then I don’t like them either. I never saw them being the best place to be. I so agree they are gross but some might be better than others. Talk about sheets not being comfortable, not even the bedspreads are nice. The sheets in most the ones I’ve been in aren’t soft either. It feels like you’re in a plastic bag and they are always cold. Most people it seems stays in them anyway because you have no choice but then most people it seems tries to make the best of it knowing what they know about Hotels. Lack of sleep is for the birds. Glad you are back home in your own bed, Jenny ๐Ÿ™‚

Crack me up!! I know you’re being serious about the bedbugs but I love your sense of humor! Those things make me sick! Never had them and I pray I never do. The King of Queens did an episode where Arthur went to Florida and brought them back it was hilarious ๐Ÿ™‚ Glad to hear your stepmom is safe. I have a tempur pedic mattress so I could never be comfortable in a hotel room.

    Have a great week!
    Sue

Oh, yes… I brought my own sheets, and my slippers not to walk on the floor. And I thought I was the only one!

We stayed at a hotel once that advertised 500-thread Egyptian cotton sheets but they were so stiff they actually made noise when you moved. I asked the manager why they misrepresent their bedding. He said, “They ARE Egyptian cotton, we just starch them. People like crisp sheets.” No joke. That was when I started bringing my own. But I’m still not a happy camper.

I am like you too Jenny, hotels creep my out. We only stay at Hampton, Holiday Inn Express or Fairfield never Motel 6 etc because we think the beds are more comfy….but that doesn’t mean they are any cleaner. My DH and I are heading out Weds morning for a month in FL but we have to stay in hotels 2-3 nights along the way. I don’t walk on the floors without my shoes on?? Weird I know but it is what it is!

Our first stop is Tunica MS, I am so sure the Hotel are really clean there…ugh!

What me to play a number for you? Did you get your apron?

    Kathy
