Living in denial

I actually like grocery shopping. Now that I’m not on TV, I come and go to the grocery store and Whole Foods, enjoying the fact that no one recognizes me, allowing me to go out in sweat pants, a pony tail, and no makeup. I look more like someone who works for a celebrity. So last week I went to my regular Whole Foods and as I was checking out, the checker says to me, “You’re buying more today than you usually do.” I’ve shopped there for years but was surprised that she would remember a customer’s buying habits. “You actually remember what your customers buy?” I asked. “Oh,” she said, “when a celebrity comes in, I usually remember.” Say what??? But I’m not famous any more! There are no makeup & hair people at my house! I come in here and none of the staff even glances at me! It was shocking because all this time, I thought I was invisible there. I guess I was living in denial. I suddenly realized that anyone with a cell phone could take my picture and I could find myself featured Β in “Stars Without Makeup,” or they would create a new section just for me called “Stars Without Mirrors.”

I started looking over my shoulder when she stunned me even more. “When a celebrity shops here, people always want to know what they bought.” Com’on! Are you serious? So now I have to edit my shopping list? AND comb my hair? The checker assured me she never tells people what celebs are buying but what about all the other checkers? And the other Whole Foods? And grocery stores? And oh the horrors… the drug store! Can I ever buy red vines again? Hair remover? An enema? I don’t think so.

I’m not suprised that someone will remember you.You did do a lot of good while doing your show. Still are with Jenny’s heroe’s. You changed people’s lives in a good way. I think the checker was a fan and wanted to say someting but held back . There is more to you and you are more than just “Jenny Jones”the talk show host you are human. It showed on your show.Even when the camera’s were off you still care about people. Everyone on here will agree with me when I say this. Keep up the great work. You are a hero for a lot people out there. You are funny too.

Yeah, Jenny does rock! I remember wathching her show back in the day. I was in early elementary school when she came out. Watched her show religiously throughout my life. So I’m a Jenny Jones nerd. The other talk show’s just copied Jenny. I’m sure we all watched them all…. but they didn’t have what Jenny had. Everything about her show was cool. They had great music, it was really entertaining, great graphics and I just loved the logos. I remember when I was in High School I even made one for art class ( I got an A). She also had great performers as well. Jenny cared about people she was really compassionate and still is.

I feel for you JJ!! But damn you crack me up! πŸ™‚ “Stars without mirrors” Ha Ha!!
I just figured you for the type of person who goes to the store and buys the embarrasing stuff with your makeup on so people wouldn’t second guess that it’s you! πŸ™‚

Btw, it’s Kya’s 7th birthday today. I am hoping that Teka pulls the samething that Kya did on her birthday and puts her head in the bag and pulls out toys and treats of hers πŸ™‚ It’s payback time Teka!!!

I’m sure you do a nice job disguising yourself when you go out. I like the fact you dress down and I’m sorry the checker made you feel the way you did. People should respect your space, so you can enjoy the things you like doing, so I’m glad the checker handled it the way she did and didn’t make a big deal out of who you were either. I think this checker made you a bit paranoid and it shouldn’t be that way. I agree with everyone here. Think positive Jenny, because you are human and a person just like anyone else πŸ˜‰

    Jenny Jenny I love you!!

But how gracious of the clerk to not make a big deal. If I was at Walgreens Girlfriend and I saw you I would run over and pick you up and swing you and then take you out for coffee. You are the perfect celebrity although I don’t think of you like that at all. You are a PERSON a friend to all.

I love you cooking website you are inspiring me to start cooking again and doing it healthy to boot because everything you make looks yummy.
