There was blood everywhere

I had a marathon nosebleed last night that lasted over an hour, from 1:00 to 2:15 am. By the time it was over, there was blood everywhere – on the sheets, pillow, nightshirt, bathroom counter and floor. Usually, I can stop my nosebleeds with some pressure but every time I let go of the pressure, blood came pouring out like a faucet. I realize that I blow my nose a lot due to allergies and I guess I went too far. This was coming from the posterior and (stop reading here if you’re queazy already) going down my throat and coming out of both nostrils. That part was scary. When I started spitting up blood, Denis wanted to take me to the hospital but I refused to go and tried one more time to sit still (and forward) and squeeze my nose, this time for 20 minutes nonstop. The bleeding slowed down and finally stopped but I got very little sleep. In the morning, the bedroom looked like a crime scene, and so did my face. I’ll be more careful next time.

I broke my nose once exercising!
While I was cleaning I found one of those devices that you put your feet in to and it has a long spring and you pull it up. I don’t know what they are called but it looked like fun to me haha, and the second time I pulled it up I heard a “snap” and the spring hit me right on the nose. It was the worst thing I think i’ve ever felt. There wasn’t any blood though until the next day when it all started pouring out.

Oh no, was this recent, Josh? It had to be painful. I’ve never had a broken anything and a broken nose seems like it would hurt really bad…
Oh and Josh, glad to see you posted 🙂

      • Josh says:

Thank you, and no it was about five years ago and very embarrassing I just told everyone that I fell.
Then a couple of months later after it had finally healed I walked into a door and broke it a second time!
After that I started watching where I walked and what I did lol.

You’re welcome, I feel bad for you knowing you broke it a 2nd time. I actually went back to see your photo and your nose looks okay. Did you have surgery or did it heal back okay on it’s own? Ive never had a broken nose, so I was
          just wondering…
How old are you, if you dont mind me asking?
          Have a good day, Josh…

          • Josh says:

Because of the way it broke they didn’t have to do surgery or anything. There is just a slight bump there but that’s okay :p
            I’m 23

            • Rhonda says:

Thats good you didnt have to have surgery after breaking it a second time 🙂
I was just curious about your age because you never know around here how old we all are and I have to say you seem to look your age. I have a nephew thats your age…

    Jenny,
Wow! I hope you’re ok! I have them too sometimes from allergies but nothing that extreme.
Hope you’re feeling better and from your hilarious post with the homies It seems you are!!

    Sue

  3. Rhonda says:

How are you doing Jenny, after your nosebleed the other night?…

  4. Nicole says:

Wow! That’s too bad, Jenny. I thought I was the only one who wouldn’t lie down for a nosebleed because it also goes in my throat. For me saline spray seems to help. p.s. I wanted the whole snake picture too!!

  5. Rhonda says:

Take it easy Jenny. I did my search on nose bleeds and it said to rest atleast 12 hours after having a nose bleed, but if you didnt get any sleep then you might want to rest longer. I’m sure you already know that. It broke my heart to know you went through something that scary. I’m sure it scared Denis as well. It scared me just reading it. I know nose bleeds are common and people get them all the time, but what you described was just heart touching for me to know you had to deal with…
    I hope you’re feeling better…

    Take care,
    Rhonda

    • Rhonda says:

Kathy, your typos dont bother me at all 🙂 but my typos really bug me. Not always but most the time. I cant stand to make a typo. It’s like I want to fix it when I see it. It seems you are the sameway 🙂 I’m watching myself closer before I click the button to submit…
Oh and by the way Jenny, did you happen to go back to Walgreens for the other skirt you said you liked?

      Take care,
      Rhonda

You I used to be on Oxygen for an illness that I have. The constant air in my nose dried it out. I was really sick and I was in the hospital when I got a nosebleed. It lasted 2 days!! The nurses didn’t know what to do…can you freakin believe that I was in a hospital and no one could help me!!?? Two days later they called in a specialist and he had to cauterize my nose to get it to stop. That formed a huge scab in my nose that lasted 6 months. Of course the scab felt like a huge crusty booger so I always was oicking at it because it drove me nuts! Thus it lasted 6 months!

I don’t know it the hospital would have been able to help you or not! I had my blood stained ‘huggie’ pillow with me in the hospital. I had blood stains on it for years because I didn’t want to give it up. I just kept buying pillow protectors to cover it up! I finally put on my big girl panties and threw it away. I don’t sleep as well now….hmmmmm…oooooo I miss my ‘huggie’!

Seriously I am glad you are okay. You might go to Walgreens when you pick up the green skirt and look for a nasal ointment called Ayr! It helps to soothe the nasal passages.

BTW I will take an XL skirt in any color….when you get it let me know and I will give you my address!!

    OMG Jenny! 🙁 ;( (crying)

  9. Becky says:

OMG Jenny!!! Hope you are much better this morning! This happened to my mother one time, and she had to go to the hospital and have it cautherized (sp?)
    Was a scarey time!!!

    Becky

Aw poor you Jenny. I also suffer with nose bleeds but usually only in summer. The worst one i remember getting was when I was jogging (of all things to be doing). I had to run into a public bathroom and people were looking at me not knowing what the heck was going on. One woman thought I had been punched or something. Hopefully for your sake, you won’t get any for a while 🙂
    Take Care, Tara
