Wanna host a game show?
I was contacted by the Game Show Network yesterday asking if I’d be interested in hosting a new game show. My reaction was… letmethinkaboutitno. I’m not sure there’s anything that would drive me back to TV, I guess because I never felt like I belonged there in the first place. The whole twelve years I spent on the air, my biggest fear was that someone would find out it was a big mistake to give me my own show and this dream job would suddenly be taken away. But the show kept going and I thought it was only through sheer luck – I was at the right place at the right time and the executives just didn’t think it through. So maybe it’s the fear of being found out this time, or maybe it’s just more fun baking cookies in my pajamas. For all those of you asking if I would do Dancing with the Stars, first: I can’t dance so they’d have to change the name to Falling Down with the Stars and second: I’d have to dance in handcuffs after being arrested for trying to strangle Bruno. 😉
Jenny don’t sell yourself short. You lasted all those years because we love you! I’m a guy and everyone I know would make time to watch Jenny Jones.
We miss you Jenny and it would be great if you came back. You were on TV because someone saw in you what we eventually did…you were never full of yourself and watching your show was like talking to someone in the family…I know what I’m talking about…I’ve been a fan of yours since Star Search.
I always thought you left way too soon…just know that you are missed and if you came back, you would make a lot of people happy.

Jenny You said that I had a good eye. Hows this? Of all the years that you were on the air I noticed that you never whore the same oufit twice not even in reruns. How did you do that? You must have a bigger woredrobe than James Brown had.
We had a wardrobe deal with different stores each season, like Bloomingdale’s or Nordstrom and I could wear anything from their store in exchange for on-air plugs at the end of the show. So I had to do fittings every week for the next week’s clothing. When you see credits at the end of any show that say, “so-and-so’s shoes by or jacket by, or wardrobe by, etc… that’s the same kind of deal. I noticed it on The Soup. But Marty, when you see a rerun (that’s a repeat of a show that already aired once) with the same guests and same stories, it had to be the same wardrobe, too. You just didn’t notice because the show was even better the second time! 🙂
Jenny, I would like to know which name did you use to complete your whop ass list? Or did we forget all about that ?

I agree with Kathy. Enjoy what you like doing, Jenny. You are set financially so relax and have fun with life now. I can only imagine how tough it is being on tv. I’ve been in your audience before and you are right when you say commercial breaks are fun because you made it fun with the audience just like you are doing here on your website…
With what you have here and interacting with fans, it almost makes me feel like you want that from how audience members played a big part of your show with questions for guests. Now it seems like it’s time for us fans to enjoy your site with what you share here with us to enjoy…

When your show ended, did you miss doing it? After 12 years I would think it take time to adjust. What did you do in the months after the final show?
We didn’t get much notice about the show not being renewed so I had to pack up my office, dressing room & studio, and downtown residence. Some things got moved to L.A. into storage, I sold some stuff, and gave a lot to staff members. Once back in L.A. I did nothing for a few months but adjust to being back home and to not working. That was weird because I had never not worked in my life and it felt strange. Within a few months, I started writing my cookbook which took over a year. Honestly, I didn’t miss doing the work because it was exhausting taping three days a week with all the homework I did, but I really missed the staff (and still do). There were about 100 people I worked with every day and I still miss them today.
I’m glad it didn’t take too long! That’s awful that you didn’t get much notice though! You would think after a DOZEN years they would’ve given you more time! I guess it’s just as well… long goodbyes can be brutal.
BTW I went to Walgreens again today and thought of you…..still no skirts!!

I loved watching you on TV and in person too. It is hard for someone that hasn’t walked in your shoes to imagine what your feelings were at that time. I am glad that you are happy now with your life and no longer need the limelight. You can’t buy the comfort that you feel now. I say continue doing what you are doing unless you need the money. We enjoy you on your website and your blog. I personally know that money doesn’t buy what you already have. Good for you sit back and relax enjoy your life!
I would love to see you again…but I don’t watch game shows anyway.

i think it would be fun if you were a celebrity guest on a game show, like when celebrities go on and play for charity.
I would go for it.
First of all, I acknowledge that you are the only one that knows your decision better than anyone else.
Imagine that this new show lasts as long as your talk show. You would still have a generation left to live it up (as long as you keep living that healthy lifestyle).
I would write more, but I don’t think anything that anyone says can influence you to change your mind, which is perfectly fine.
I just know luck alone does not get you through a successful 12-year run on national television. It takes more than that, and you have ‘that.’
