Mrs. News’ beautiful caps
Wow! The chemo-caps that Kathy (aka Mrs. News) is crocheting are beautiful! She has made over 200 caps to donate to cancer patients going through chemo. What a wonderful gift this must be to those receiving treatment, not just the cap itself, but the message of support that comes with it, knowing that a stranger took the time to send love to someone in need. Kathy is living proof that everyone can make a difference.
Just started crocheting chemo caps this past month. Searching the web for patterns and ran into this site. Mrs. News, would like your pattern. Not sure how long the caps should be.

Adult: Chenille Sensations yarn; J hook
Rnd 1: Ch4, join, work 12dc into ring, join.
Rnd 2: *2dc in ea st* around, join. (24dc)
Rnd 3: *1dc in next st, 2dc in next st* around, join. (36dc)
Rnd 4: *1dc in next 2st, 2dc in next st* around, join. (48dc)
Rnd 5: *1dc in next 3st, 2dc in next st* around, join. (60dc)
Rnd 6-14: Dc in ea st around, join.
Rnd 15: Sc in ea st around, join.
Fasten off.
This the one I use for crocheting. You can google free chemo cap patterns if you don’t like this one or if you are a knitter. I LOVE doing them. Each one is different. I have made over 200+. I also sew fun buttons on them or crochet a little decoration for the hat using the first 2 steps of the hat making a little round circle. Have fun!!

hello, I came across this site by accident and saw your beautiful and colorful caps. They’re gorgeous! I would love to purchase a couple for my 18yr old daughter who was recently diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma cancer in February 2011. She has lost all of her hair. She is in chemo treatment every 2 weeks. She has received many nice caps from generous people but would really enjoy some colorful and bright, spring colors.

I want to say you have a great heart. These are beautiful. I crochet and want to make some for my sister’s friends whom she meet in the hospital during her chemo with lung cancer…she now has to go back in for brain cancer. I have been searching the internet for ideas and found your pattern. Thanks
Thanks again guys…still doing lots of crocheting because I live in the MidWest so you know we are all snowed in for awhile!! 16 inches in my town last night!!

Wow Kathy! Now that’s a snow storm…
We had snow and ICE a few weeks ago and it was a mess here. I would take snow any day but 16 inches I don’t think I would like that much snow all at once, but it’s good you can still do your crocheting and wait it out. I’m sure you are making the best of things 😉
I saw today on the news that Chicago has snow and high winds. Actually knocking people off their feet if out in it. New York iced under. Lots of bad weather everywhere. Predicting more snow/ice for us here in the south, but we’ll see…

Thanks Jenny!! I love making them and I always include a little note in each one to let the person know that even though we don’t know each other, I said a prayer for them while I made it.

I have to say the whole time we all have been talking to each other on your blog Jenny. I’ve learned Kathy is really a great person. For what she does for Hospice and now knowing she does this out of kindness makes me respect her even more…
