Why are they calling me?

I was invited to appear on the View this month but declined. I felt a bit uneasy because it’s February and feel-good stories like Jenny’s Heroes aren’t sensational enough for sweeps. They said they just wanted to see what I’m up to but I doubt that, so I declined. Last year, I was also asked to host Jack LaLanne’s infomercial but I’ve been turning down infomercials for years. But wait a minute – he was almost a hundred years old! Were they looking for someone to appeal to his demographic? Did Betty White turn them down? Olivia De Havilland not available?

Then last week, someone called about hosting an infomercial for something called Lifestyle Lift. Β Here’s a picture from their website:

Why are they calling me? This is a facelift! Do you suppose I was going to be the new “before” & “after?” What’s next? “Now, here’s Jenny Jones to tell you about the new Ortho-Med Shower Chair!” Should I stock up if Depends go on sale? Maybe my car isn’t the only thing that needs some work but I won’t let this get me down. I still have my teeth.

    Hey Jenny:
I think you’re still hosting…your the ‘host’ of your own blog. You have “In my Kitchen “, “Quizzes and Fun Stuff”, there are words about your Foundation, ( the more serious stuff ), etc. You’re still dealing with an “audience” so to speak. Do you view Oprah’s channel, OWN, and if so did you happen to see one of her episodes just before retiring the “Oprah Show” with Phil Donahue, Sally Jessy Raphael, Geraldo, Rikki Lake and Montel Williams ? Retired Talk Show hosts. If you did, do you agree w/ what they said? They miss the interaction with the audience more than the actual SHOW itself and all the work that goes into it! Whew, I bet ! All the best to you!

    Jenny,
You know most of those infomercials are deceitful!! They see YOUR skin and they know your in your early 60’s and they want to make it look like their product gave this beautiful young skin!!! I wonder what makeup they would put on you to show a before shot!!:) It’s just another compliment JJ. Blush my sista!! πŸ™‚
As far as the View, you do what you want to. Jenny’s Hero’s, I said before helped out a town very nearby πŸ™‚ off to work now.
    Take Care,
    Sue

Hey Jenny..my wife and I both loved your talk show and miss you on TV. Would love to see you hosting something at some point. I do think the View would of been great, so many fans would love to see you on TV in some form. I also agree with the other posts on here that Jennys Heros is worth talking about.

    Best of luck to you!

I would have loved to see you on The View….as long as the tragedy from your TV life was an off limits topic. I would have loved to see you talk about Jenny’s Heroes! But infomercials….NOooooooooooooooooo!! I think you would be a fun game show host! But I am afraid you would not have time for us….so being selfish I like you just the way you are. But that being said…I still miss you on TV.

Kathy, I guess I’m a little selfish too by having Jenny be who she is and being able to communicate with her like we’ve been doing. I’m sure there were quite a few rules Jenny had to follow when she was on tv, but now she can just do whatever she wants and have her own rules for us AND Denis too πŸ˜†
Infomercials isn’t a bad thing if it’s the right product. Montel does a infomercial about a juicer which seems like something he would use, but Jenny doing a infomercial about a facelift product is just not right for her. We all know how she stays healthy and looking young πŸ˜‰
Oh and Kathy please get Jenny’s book. You would enjoy the read I think πŸ™‚

      Take care,
      Rhonda

Hey Jenny, you being on “The View”would have given me a reason to start watching the show again : ) If you don’t feel comfortable don’t do it. You know yourself better than anybody else. As to why you are getting offers for face lift infomercials? i have no idea. i would find that slightly offensive. In Aussie land, as we say to something that makes no sense and is offensive ….them them to ( go root a boot!) πŸ™‚ Take care of yourself, Tara

  6. Heather says:

I think you need to give yourself more credit…..you are doing awesome work. =) Thanks for all you do. Heather

  7. Becky says:

Jenny, I watch The View every day, and would LOVE to see you on there!!! Hugs πŸ™‚

Jenny, I can tell you just don’t want to do much tv stuff. I think you like kicking back and enjoying things when you want to. I think it was to many do’s and don’ts for you and somewhat being controlled and what you can do and what you can’t do. If you still were on air I can just bet you wouldn’t be able to blog with us like you are doing now. I think you like your freedom and not so much being controlled…
An interview is a little different but like I said you just want to stay away from it so to speak.I’m kinda glad you didn’t do the facelift infomercial. Your look comes natural and to do that infomercial just wouldn’t be right πŸ˜‰
I saw you on the View before with one of your books. Forgot which book but I have to agree with Shelly “Jenny’s Heroes” would be worth doing πŸ™‚

    Take care,
    Rhonda
