An inexpensive substitute for shaving cream is a 2 in 1 shampoo with built in conditioner. Way less expensive and the conditioner softens the hair and moisturizes the leg while you’re at it!

I love the Shea Butter and the stories behind there product:
The landscape of Burkina Faso is interspersed with majestic karite trees – the source of shea butter. In this region, the hot winds carry dust and fine sand, and can be very drying for the skin. The women of Burkina Faso traditionally protect their skin – and that of their children – against harsh environmental elements by applying shea butter daily. Organized into cooperatives, they use traditional methods to harvest the fruit of this sacred tree. They extract and dry the nuts, grind them to make a fine paste, and transform the paste into shea butter – a universal and irreplaceable beauty product. This explains why their skin remains so beautiful, supple and elastic…

I use olive oil for every thing from removing mascara, to sealing in moisture after a shower, to everyday use on my hair. For a hot oil treatment I mix olive oil with grapeseed oil. But my favorite hand cream was a lemon verbena cream that I found a Bath and Body works (just because I prefer citrus scents to floral scents)

I am 58 y/o and I use nothing. I just shower and dry off…I was my face with water in the shower. I think you are born with good skin or not. I have very soft and smooth skin and most people think I am much younger than I am??? I could care less. I rarely wear makeup anymore either. I let my personality do the work and then my looks don’t matter!

I’ve recently learned that the more you use moisturizer, the less natural moisturizer your skin will produce, so it makes sense that you have great skin. I’ve been moisturizing for so long, if I quit I’m afraid they’ll prepare a room for me at the alligator exhibit!

I have to say, I’ve been using Dove soap, which is a moisturizing soap, for a long time on my face and body. I feel like it’s a must to keep using it, because I’m afraid if I stop using it or change soaps I will have problems with my skin drying out too. My skin is sensitive. I don’t try many products because I don’t know how my skin will react to it…

Ok Ladies, I am sharing something with you that I am over the moon with!
i do alot of research now that Im 50!
I have discovered two things I never knew about until about a week and a half ago.
COCONUT OIL *VIRGIN* Its fantastic on your face and body, and also is good for you to put in your cooking and on top of food or in cerial, ect, Its so healthy and has many benifits, oh and not to forget great for hair.

Ok, my second discovery is (are ya ready) A method called Body brushing. There are many HOW TO Videos right on youtube to learn more.
But it is great for taking the dead skin cells off your skin, and leaving it so smooth and soft (I swear it does) and its great for cellulite, it removes toxics from your body, prevents health issues, and is great for/aids the lymphatic drainage of the entire body. I just started using a body brush (only 10 dollars at drug store.com only five days ago and already am addicted to it, I feel my circulation come alive again, and renewed, my skin is baby soft, and I swear its doing something for my legs no lie. IM SOLD!!! I hope you all will do your research and see how great these two discoverys are, they’re changing my life. Hugs, Lesli`

I love the Say Yes To Cucumber line available at Walgreens. Smells yummy and great for “mature” skin.

  7. Rhonda says:

I use Dove soap. It’s the mildest soap I’ve found for my sensitive skin. I like it with cucumber every now and then, but the exfoliating bar is best. Buying one bar is around $2 each. I buy 6 bars at a time because it’s a deal at $7. Best bathing soap ever!…

Josie Maran Argan Oil Infused SPF 40+ ($32)

This is THE sunscreen to have! Argan Oil is the latest beauty craze but I like it b/c it leaves NO white cast! I am a guy and have an olive complexion so I can’t cover the white cast that many natural sunblocks leave behind. This SPF only contains physical sunblocks (Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide) in micronized particles, not NANO-particles which have been found to be harmful. Chemical sunscreens scare me (read up on it!) and they need to be reapplied several times a day.

The only downside is the price but it is the best I have tried. And, I have tried most physical sunscreens out there. Although this one is infused with oil, it has not caused my oily acne prone skin to break out. In fact, I’d say it has controlled the oil production.

I embarrassingly (as a guy) go to Sephora just for this sunscreen. They have a sample bottle there so you can check it out! I give it 5 STARS!

I LOVE Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. My skin reacts to a lot of things but I’ve used this for years with no problem. It cleans my skin great, costs about $12 at the drug store. I give it 5 stars!

  10. Sue says:

Definately Oil of Olay!! I use the Active Hydrating Moisturizer on my face right after I shower every morning. I have normal skin. It costs 10.00 a bottle. I rate it a 4!! 🙂
I also use Oil of Olay soap. I love their products!

    Chap Stick
As I got older, my skin & lips & skin were getting drier so I started using Chap Stick ($1.50) but after a few weeks, I seemed to need more and more and if I didn’t use it, my lips seemed even drier than when I started. I think something in the product causes your lips to stop producing moisture because I switched to a different brand and the problem stopped. I’ve since seen a lot “chap stick addiction” stories on the internet. I’m currently trying out one by Dr. Hauschka.
    Rating: 1 Star.

    • Rhonda says:

Jenny, Chap Stick is kinda blah, but Vaseline makes a lip balm that work well for me…
      Rating it a 4 star…

    L’Occitane Dry Skin Hand Cream
I’ve been using L’Occitane Hand Cream for several years. It comes in a silver tube, costs $26, and it’s super rich without being greasy. I cook a lot and my hands get dry and this cream has shea butter, which is very moisturizing. It used to cost $20 but even at $26, it’s worth it. The packaging isn’t fancy but who cares? It works. I buy it at L’Occitane stores & the beauty supply.
    Rating: 5 Stars.

    • Stephanie says:

I agree about the L’Occitane hand cream. I use it all the time and it’s great. I give it 5 stars! Jenny, thanks for the new idea – I hope to learn about new products here.

    • Rhonda says:

Ah Jenny, I like any type lotion with shea butter and sometimes coco butter. I think shea butter is better for me though… I myself work with cardboard all day at work and my hands can get dry if I don’t keep them covered with gloves but gloves can be annoying to work in, especially if we’re busy. I would pay the $26 for it if it worked for me as good as you say it works for you. I will trust your word and try it. Right now I’m using Johnson’s baby lotion with shea butter and it so soothing…
      I know there’s better lotions out there, so I rate what I use a 4 star rating…

    • Rhonda says:

Jenny, I’ve found the hand cream online where I can order it. I’m willing to give it a try because your skin is so smooth looking and you know what’s good and what’s not. Oh and Jenny, if you’ve done things for years don’t stop or change anything…
