I’m still shaking.

It was unbelievable! I was outside and a red-tailed hawk swooped right over my head and sat up on a wall. I ran in to get my camera, afraid he’d be gone when I got back. But not only was he still there, he stayed there for three hours, switching from tree to wall to roof, and as I kept taking pictures, he didn’t leave. At one point, I was about 20 feet in front of him, in disbelief that he stayed the whole time. After three hours, he flew away, but came back around 6 pm but he didn’t seem as friendly as before. He had a laser-eyed focus on my back hill. Β Finally, he turned to me and stared right into my eyes and it was unnerving, but I had to get my pictures! I finally took this last one and ran back in the house. I’m still shaking.

    Jenny,
I want to thank you for sharing your recipe for the strawberry cake. Everyone absolutely loved it!! I followed your instructions perfectly and made sure I bought heavy whipping cream… I will never use cool whip again. I’m sending you a photo of the little bit that’s left so you can see how good it turned out!! πŸ™‚ and Josh, if you’re out there, it is as awesome as it looks!! I know you were complimenting it too! Thanks again Jenny! πŸ™‚

This isn’t really on topic, but Jenny I was reading the other day that there are certain types of flowers you can plant around your veggies that will or at lest help to repel deer and squirrels like Daffodils. Ceder also seems to help.
They also make something called “bitter barrier” that’s natural and they sell in the animal section that is very bitter to animals. It helps keeps the cats from tearing up the house plants.

Amazing photograph, Jenny! I see hawks all the time in Beachwood, Nichols
and Laurel Canyons. But they’re circling in the sky…not giving me the evil eye,
up close and personal! You DO take outstanding nature shots and I hope you’ll
put them all in a book some day.

p.s. Don’t go outside in your baby rabbit or kitten disguise or that old hawk will
get a whole lot CLOSER to you!

It really is a great picture. You should do something with you photos like scrap booking them and I’m sorry you’re still shaking, but it’ll pass. I don’t see how you can get that close. I think I would be shaking too with a bad photo as well, but you held a steady hand in taking the photo. I love the fact he looked right at you at the right time. What perfect timing…
It’s funny…lol…it looks like he smiled for the camera πŸ˜†
