Linda’s Back Yard Hawk

August 25, 2011

My “pet” red tailed hawk…in my backyard. Parents and 2babies. They love teasing my chihuahuas…actually dive bombing…maybe trying to feed their babies! Every morning….the hawk spends 2 hours keeping me company while I have coffee and read the paper.

Omg, I would be shaking. Birds of prey kinda scare me. We have hawks here. One has never come in my yard or that close, but I see them from a distance flying around. We have owls at night and they sound pretty close. One night they were more than one out behind my house and they sounded like they were talking to each other or maybe even a mating call, don’t really know which. I live on a culdesac with street lights and one night an owl flew over, made me nervous to see it fly so close by. I gathered my cats in, because after seeing that wingspread, I don’t like for my cats to be outside at night…

That looks like a Cooper’s Hawk – they hang out around my house, too. I hate to tell you this, but if those hawks get the chance, they will EAT your chihuahuas. Sorry. Keep an eye out. 🙁
