“What If I AM a Black Woman?”

One of my favorite moments of all time as host of the Jenny Jones Show was during a Christmas episode we taped in the mid 1990s featuring children’s talent. A seven-year-old girl named Arbeny Davis came on to recite a poem titled “What If I Am a Black Woman?” and when she was done, the entire room erupted in cheers and applause. No one expected this kind of performance from a seven-year old. Click here to watch the video.

p.s. Arbeny, send us a comment if you see this. Let us know what you’re doing today. You must be a grown woman by now!

Just watched the video…I hope this little girl turned out to be an amazing black woman!

Jenny I love your smile and I miss seeing it!

My husband and I are downsizing as Baby Boomers tend to do…He is going through boxes of stuff making me decide what gets to make the trip….one of the decisions I had to make was if the VHS tape of when I was in the audience of your show and Jerry Springer and Oprah made the cut….sorry to say your VHS tapes did not make it! But I will always have the memories. I never will forget that when you saw us walking on the street in Chicago in front of the studio you smilled and said hello. That meant alot to me.

This little girl is amazing. Her poem was sang and put together perfectly. I hope she sees this and contacts you Jenny. I know you wonder about your guests and what they are doing now, so I hope she contacts you. I remember this show. If I’m not mistaken Yolanda Adams was your musical act. I could be wrong…
It’s amazing to see such young kids have great talent from an early age. A friend of the family has a daughter who sings wonderful and I’d like to share her video. Her name is Samantha and she’s 11 years old and has a wonderful voice. My sister said when X-factor is here in Atlanta she is taking her for try outs. She’s really good… She has 2 videos and I chose Samantha singing Adele’s “Someone Like You”
