Happy Father’s Day

Here’s a picture of my dad who inspired me with his great cooking. He was definitely the number one cook in the family. In this photo, I had just surprised him with his own personalized apron and he loved it! He died at 73 and never got to see me make it in television or as a cookbook author. I know he would have been proud of me.

Awww Jenny, what a a great photo!!! He looks like he was a lot of fun. You know he is proud of you from Heaven!!!!

I lost my dad in 2005 to suicide. He was terribly depressed and the worst part was he called me on the phone to tell me what he was doing. He was 80 and came from the generation that doesn’t admit that type of illness, nor seek treatment. I’m still not over some of the anger I feel for that, but he did what he did, and I have to live with that.

    Much love!!!!

Wow Becky, I am so sorry to hear the way your dad died. Working in a funeral home, I see a lot of suicide and it’s devastating to the families. So many unanswered questions. We just buried a 36 year old from a gunshot wound to his head. His mom said that he suffered his whole life from mental illness. His brother committed suicide ten years ago on his 22nd birthday. How sad.

I know that your father loved you he just didn’t love life or himself. God Bless him and your family!!

      Love,
      sue

I was never close with my father, growing up. We still have a (very) distant relationship. I spent the weekend with my Mother at one of her weekend getaway homes. On our way back to her house, we stopped by my dad’s house to visit. It was nice. We were not there very long but it was peaceful & I was able to wish him a happy father’s day. I rarely see him so I had to keep my face expressionless when I caught glances of a couple signs of aging. I’ve been realizing that our meetings have been going without hassle & that my Mom is right when she says, he’s become very regretful of the past & doesn’t say the things he once did. When I see him, I’m expecting one person & I end up witnessing a nice version of what I remember. It’s a surreal feeling.

I’m sorry for your recent loss, Marty. I send my love to you, Jenny, Rhonda, & Marty. Your fathers sound like they were wonderful men! 🙂

Jenny, if your Dad was better at cooking than you, he must have been top chef, because you are an awesome cook. I haven’t had your cooking but to make your recipes and they turn out like yours it’s close enough…lol 😉
Oh and Jenny your Dad would be real proud of you for all the things you’ve accomplished so far and for being the person you are today. He knows, Jenny 😀

I’m sorry for your loss as well Marty 🙁
For anyone who has lost a loved one just remember the good times and hold on to great memories. Those can never be taken away…

I hope everyone had a wonderful Father’s Day. My day was okay. Had to work, but thought about my Dad off and on. It’s been almost 3 years since he passed and not a day goes by I don’t think of him. He is truly missed by us all…

Well we r home from father’s day. My dad was sad because his twin brother died two years ago today!! Of all days it had to fall on father’s day this year??? hmmm. He tried to enjoy himself with me and my sister there and our boyfriends and one out of my three brothers was there. I told a good joke that made everyone laugh. “three sisters live together. The one is 96, the other is 94 and the other one is 92. the 96 yr old is upstairs going to the bathroom and yells down, “I don’t know if i’m getting on the toilet or getting off?” the 94 year old replies, ” Let me come up stairs and find out.?????!?” Than half way up the stairs she replies, am I going up the stairs or coming down???” the 92 year old says…Good Lord! At least I have my head together! “knock on wood” (she knocks!!!) She replies, I will be right up after I see who is at the door!”

    HA HA!! Love to all!

Sorry your Dad had a hard day. For him to be a twin, I’m sure they were very close and the joke you told was hilarious…lol…I’ve heard it before at last year’s family reunion. My Dad has 3 sisters and it was told using their names and it was the older sister telling the joke like a story as if it really happened. It was so funny…lol…

I just lost my own dad on May 14th. He lived to be 93 years old. He was so old he was even old enough to have been your father Jenny.
