Eating this way can save your life

I’ve always believed in the health benefits of the Mediterranean diet, which consists mostly of olive oil, nuts, fish, fruit, vegetables, and a glass of wine every day. Then there was a big news story this week all about the life-saving benefits of eating this way and how it can prevent heart disease.  The evidence is pretty clear so I’m posting the food pyramid here. I hope I can make a difference by sharing helpful information like this. And for anyone on Pinterest, I have a board just for Mediterranean recipes. The way I see it, it’s Mediterranean 6 days a week, and on the 7th day – pizza!

I just have to say…”Wow! your lemon brownies look delicious!!!” 🙂 I am making your apple pie bars this weekend. I grew up with so many food allergies so I am forced to eat healthy. I am even allergic to red meat. Nothing but turkey burgers, chicken franks, turkey bacon BLT’s… But I feel right at home here!! I love your recipes!!

Although they use the term “diet” it’s really just a way of eating all the time. I eat pretty healthy so I’m not making drastic changes, just doing the best I can.

I never knew of this diet until this week and it really doesn’t seem like a diet like you said. I see it being more of a guideline the right way to eat and what foods to eat and how much how often. When I saw the coverage on this I thought “hummm, that sounds healthy”. I’ve been making changes for years now and this is as close as it gets to how I eat. I don’t go strictly by this but I will now start to try and come as close as I can to it. How things are cooked is where I am now and with the help of your recipes Jenny and others I find online. I’m learning to be more healthy. Roasted asparagus is soo good. Yum! 🙂

Now a diet that includes pizza and wine? Count me in Jenny! Wine is good for your circulation too. Trader Joe’s here I come!!

I’m trying to limit myself from red meat and pork. I still have it but not as much. I replace those meats with mostly ground turkey or turkey bacon. I’m trying to also stay away from fried foods and I love roasted veggies. When I made the tenderloin I roasted green beans and asparagus and a few other veggies and they were delicious. I love beans and I know those have a lot of protein. It’s good to know you can have bread, pasta, rice whole grains oh and potatoes daily. I do fairly good with fruits and veggies and with water too. I do slip drinking that much water but I drink more than what it says some days, so I guess it balances out…

Thanks for sharing this. I’m to the point of not trusting a diet because they always fail, but since you like this diet and probably did research on it I’ll trust your word with this one and yes it’s pretty clear, plus I saw this report Monday on the news about how good it is for your heart. I checked out your board on Pinterest and those all look delicious. The Garden Wraps look really good…
