This has never happened

We had the most amazing thing happen yesterday. Denis and I were having tea in the backyard around 3:00, wondering if we might see the young deer again and all of a sudden a hawk swooped down and landed on a tree branch just 5 feet off the ground. He was right next to us! Maybe 25 feet away in a birch tree. The green leaves in the foreground are to top of a hydrangea bush. Before we saw him we heard his wings as he flew down. We sat motionless, afraid to even move an arm, knowing he’d fly away as fast as he landed. And I didn’t have my camera! “I have to try,” I said to Denis, “because the camera is just inside the door.” So I very slowly slid out of my chair and moved towards the door. I opened the door and it creaked a little and I was afraid to look back, knowing the noise would scare him away. But he stayed. I got my camera and slowly came back outside, in disbelief that he was still there and so close.  I was so thrilled to get this photo. He stayed for about 5 minutes and then his giant wings opened up and he was gone.

Hey Sue. I hope you had a great Father’s Day. I’m glad you mentioned Jenny’s strawberry cake again. I plan on making this cake while I’m off work this week. I couldn’t bet the price of strawberries at work and bought some today. 2 pound container was only $2.98. I saw a 2 pound container of blueberries all last week for $4.74 I think it was and I went to buy some of those and there were none left 🙁 I got a 1 pound container for $2.98 which isn’t a bad price. I love your blueberry muffins Jenny but I think I’m gonna use the blueberries for another one of you recipes. Which then again I haven’t had a blueberry muffin in months 😉 😀
Take care everyone and I hope you all had a great Father’s Day weekend 🙂

lol…I can see you sliding out of your seat so slow because you just gotta have that one moment huh?… 😆 Don’t blame you though. He is pirched up there so beautifully. I’m glad you found a hobby for nature and you know how to use a camera. Your photo are awesome, but you need a holster for that camera of yours….lol…you seem to forget to take it with you when you need it most or want it most rather. The photo is amazing and you did very well like always. Great job! 😀
