No botulism yet

Here is a conversation that took place last week at a popular local Italian deli/restaurant in Burbank.

Me: What’s your best imported Italian pizza sauce?

He: It’s Cento, in the cans right over there. It’s the best.

Me: I found the pizza sauce but all the cans are dented. I mean really dented, like somebody used them to play kickball. I don’t want to buy dented cans.

He: I don’t blame you. You can get really sick.

Me: Those cans are really mangled. Nobody is going to buy them.

He: That’s okay. If they don’t sell after about three months, they take them in the back and make marinara sauce for the restaurant.

Me: With the dented cans?!

He: We’ve been here over 40 years – nobody got sick yet.

Jenny, I will not buy a dented can. I don’t think they are good for you either, but your conversation was very funny…lol…at least he was honest, right?….same here MrsNews not so much when my Mom did the shopping, but my Dad was a penny pincher and that’s not a bad thing. I penny pinch and I think I learned it from my Dad, but if something I’d damaged I don’t buy it. He always went to the discount bread store too, every Saturday morning and yes I drank from the water hose too and still do when working in the yard 🙂

Niceeeeee!! I am sure they are not the only ones. I am better off not knowing. But I like his attitude. When I was little we bought the dented cans because they were cheaper and then went to the day old bread store. If the bread had mold you just tore the moldy part off. We certainly have become a picky society! LOL and YES I drank from the water hose when we were outside playing!!
